The Seashore Trolley Museum, located in Kennebunkport, Maine, United States, is the world's first and largest museum of mass transit vehicles. While the main focus of the collection is trolley cars, it also includes rapid transit trains, Interurban cars, trolley buses, and motor buses.

Visitors experience a powerful connection to transit history - ride antique streetcars on our private heritage railroad; enjoy exhibits, viewing live streetcar restorations, museum gift shop, picnic tables and hiking trails. Fun for all ages! We offer a variety of special events throughout the season for adults, kids, families, and transit fans!

Founded in 1939, we have grown into the largest electric railway museum in the world.

Visit our Kennebunkport, Maine campus and enjoy our world-class collection and take a trolley ride on our electric railroad!

Take a tour around our property; you'll find several outdoor displays that show the history behind mass transportation.

Explore our three exhibit carhouses and then witness the restoration process of a streetcar from the observation gallery in our restoration shop.

Hands down, the favorite part of a visit to the Seashore Trolley Museum is the chance to ride an antique trolley out along a rebuilt portion of the Atlantic Shore Line Railway, once an electric interurban route.

Our volunteer motormen and conductors will share the story of bygone era and answer all questions you have about transit history.

Can’t say enough about what a great place this is! My first visit of my life at 58 yrs. old! I brought a group of Seniors and the LOVED it. The docent was beyond kind to all of them and myself and our driver. We all had a wonderful time. Everyone working there you can tell are so passionate about the place and love what they do! They all made it fun for all! Really cute gift shop too!

A very interesting, friendly and Dedicated group of largely Volunteers work here to restore some old trolleys. Some take many years to do almost from scratch. A lot of interesting bits of history about trolleys and general transport. You get to ride a few different trolley cars, if you stay awhile. There are also many run-down cars, but many are needed for parts. There are a few trolleys which are famous for their riders or style in their day.

We had a really enjoyable time visiting the Seashore Trolley Museum on a recent visit to Kennebunkport. The museum has a wonderful collection of trolleys from throughout the United States as well as some from Europe and even a tram from Sydney, Australia and a cable car from New Zealand! We enjoyed a ride on a trolley and were really lucky to be treated to a tour by two of the volunteers Tom and Meir who were very knowledgeable about the collection.
